Abstract
"This study offers a look at challenges public historians face when interpreting slavery at a historic house museum. It specifically analyzes Hampton Plantation in Charleston County, South Carolina. This work will also serve to draw connections between current historiographical understanding of slavery in South Carolina and the possibility for sharing that knowledge with a wider audience beyond academic alone through public history at a key historic site in South Carolina."--Leaf ii
