Summary
Parallel lines follows filmmaker Nina Davenport in the fall of 2001 as she drives from California back home to New York, where her apartment once overlooked the World Trade Center. The events of September 11th, 2001 serve as a portal into the inner lives of Americans. The filmmaker stops along the road to talk with strangers who share their own personal stories of loss and grief: a woman tells of losing custody of her children; a veteran describes his battle with post traumatic stress disorder; a cowboy reveals that his mother murdered his father. "The title of the film refers to the lines in the road, the personal story lines that paralleled the nation's story, and the twin towers themselves"--Filmmaker's website
