A database that combines original historical documents and personal histories. The collection features millions of digital images of records preserved in the National Archives and other institutions. The collection includes: Brady Civil war photos; US Federal Census Records; Lincoln assassination papers; Confederate amnesty papers; newspapers; original copies of milestone documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address; Vietnam War photos and documents; World War I documents and records; naturalization recordsOriginally launched in 2007 as "Footnote", a website about history and genealogy, "Fold3" was rebranded in 2011 with a focus on military document research. Fold3 Library Edition provides access to US military records, including the stories, photos, and documents of the men and women who served. It contains millions of records from world-class archives, many of which are exclusively available on Fold3. Users can view the records and can share their own stories and other content. Users can also combine their own documents with Fold3's records to create online memorials for those who served.
