Summary
Ali Reynolds's friend and fellow police officer Jose Reyes is shot and left for dead. At first, officers suspect that he was caught in the crossfire in a local drug war, but evidence starts to suggest that he may have been working with the criminals. As Ali investigates the case, she finds an unlikely ally in Sister Anselm, a patient advocate who works with border crossers.
