Summary
"Earth is in peril as ancient evil, thought banished to Mars ages ago, has resurfaced all over the world. Now, six teenagers from around the globe are being recruited and gifted with extraordinary powers and sacred weapons to stop this plague of evil. See how 13 year-old Miguel of Mexico, 16 year-old Neo of Greece, and 12 year-old Parvati of India, are approached by strange magical creatures who slowly reveal that they must leave their everyday lives and assume the roles they were born for: heroes of mythic proportions set to save the world and rid it from evil! They also encounter the very gods that they must oppose--if they survive."--Provided by publisherAn ancient Evil has returned to Earth after being banished for millennia. The old gods who thought they had defeated Evil must find new heroes. Six children, from all over the world, are chosen. The stories of the first chosen -- Yuko, Amir, and Abigail -- appear in book one. Book two tells the stories of Parvati, Miguel, and Neo. In India, Parvati Patel seems to be constantly in motion. She's an excellent student, active in sports, very involved at her local health clinic where she volunteers, she even fights crime! It's almost as if she's a natural born super-hero even before her ancient ancestor Durga appears to explain to Parvati her new powers. When her whole town comes down with a mad zombie bug, Parvati must channel her powers to save everyone and to stop Kali, goddess of destruction. In Mexico, young Miguel, who lives with his recluse father and little sister, starts running with the wrong crowd, working with a shady businessman to help provide for his family. When Quetzacoatl appears to Miguel, to offer him the powers of wind and the ancient weapon, the Serpent's Tail, and to prepare him to become a hero, he's not interested. But Quetzalcoatl can be very convincing and soon Migual is thrown into the battle of his life, up against Neococyaotl, a god Quetzacoatl defeated centuries ago. but will Miguel be able to save the world from Evil's bloodlust? The last ancient hero summons Neo, a teen from Greece struggling to suppert his impoverished single mother and triplet siblings. Can Neo and his demi-god mentor, Hercules, stop Ares, the Greek god of war, in his path of chaos and destruction? Even worse, Neo's family is smack dab in the middle of that path. These children are Earth's last hope in the war against Evil. Using their powers and strengths, they might just have what it takes to be the new gods of today. -- back cover
