Summary
"Forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan stumbles upon a fresh skeleton during an archaeological dig on the Charleston, South Carolina shore. Local coroner and old friend, Emma Rousseau, persuades Tempe to stay on and help with the investigation. As the body count begins to climb, Tempe notices a similarity among the victims mysterious nicks on bones and signs of strangulation. Tempe follows the trail to a free street clinic with a belligerent staff, a suspicious doctor, and a donor who is a charismatic televangelist. Tempe's love life is also complicated by the two men in her life, her estranged husband, who comes to town to investigate a missing woman and stays in the same borrowed beach house as she, and by her current flame, Ryan, who visits from Montreal." -- Back cover
